Vintage Apron Patterns
Apron pattern are some of favorites. These are some of mine:
These are two of my favorites. I love the style of the aprons and their 1940's hairdos.
I haven't made either of these.They are the old type of pattern with perforations and no markings.
I haven't been brave enough to tackle them yet!
These are mail order patterns from the 1950's.
I love all the different pocket variations on these!
I've made two aprons from this "flirty skirty" pattern (1/2 apron and full apron).
They turned out really cute.

Vintage Sewing Notions Grab Bag
I purchased a grab bag of vintage sewing notions at the thrift store.
Most of the notions are from the 30s or 40s,
here are the most interesting ones.

Press On Scuffs for pant cuffs (far left).
2 Talon "slide fasteners" (before they were called zippers) in unopened packages.
Talon paper insert that would have come with a zipper (3rd from left).
The "Skuffs" were to prevent wear to your trouser cuffs. They feel like heavy flannel.

were meant to be ironed on to the wrong side of your pants at the cuff
edge where they would rub against the heel of your shoe.

What I Made with a Vintage Pattern
McCall 1549 18" doll pattern, copyright 1950
I have a cute 1950s baby doll that needs a new dress before I can sell her.
I have a cute 1950s baby doll that needs a new dress before I can sell her.
I looked thru my vintage doll patterns and found this one.
Mine is missing the pajama pattern but that's okay because I'll be making the dress and bonnet.
I used lace instead of bias tape around the bonnet edge
and satin ribbon for the drawstring ties in the bonnet and dress.
I also lengthened the dress and replaced the embroidered elephants with lace trim.
I opted to make pantaloons of white organdy instead of panties as the doll has a cloth body
and I didn't want the cloth part of her legs to show.
Since she didn't have shoes I created a pattern
and sewed a little pair of pink felt shoes that tie with a satin ribbon bow.
Here she is in her new outfit!
